Benchmarq is changing over to mostly battery charger control IC's, a profitable and growing business. But alas, they are getting bought by Unitrode - so much for watching them grow.

The other guys are interesting to watch, if not least because they make good leading indicators for LLTC & MXIM. Sometimes big moves in others can drag those two around. MCRL and ADI especially, seem to have big mindshare on wall street. Personally I think LLTC is far & away the best run of the list mentioned a few posts ago, MXIM a close second and growing - less efficient, but more in touch with customers.

<<Dallas Semiconductor is making these timer ICs not really in the same general type of business with LLTC and MXIM.>>

DS has a wide variety of unique products, and I added them with a '?' due to a memory fragment that they may have an entry in the battery power management segment. However, even if they don't, they are the first earnings reporter in the small proprietary IC area and give a business background independent of the DRAM, SRAM, uP and other digital machinations.

<<Micrel has a lot of problems right now. >>

I suspect that you may be referring to MLIN, not MCRL.
