Santiago, even liberal Democratic politicians are very leery of getting too mixed up in homosexual causes. For example, look at the really messed up way Clinton handled the gays-in-the-military issue. he made them a lot of promises he could not keep, so that they would campaign hard for him. I can pretty much assure you no politicians are "milking" the gay issue. The homosexual community itself is demanding full civil and human rights, with no discrimination in employment or housing. If you don't think the feminist lobby is strong, I am not sure what to say to convince you. The reason Bill Clinton's poll results are still mostly favorable is that feminist women perceive him as so favorable to their goals that they will overlook a lot in his personal life to make sure he stays in power. Elizabeth Dole has absolutely no hope of being elected unless she pleases them at least in a moderate way. It seems hard to imagine over here at Ask God, but most of America really is moderate, not conservative, and they feel very uncomfortable with the Christian right, as does the mainstream majority of the Republican party. Pat Robertson saying that Orlando would be visited by a hurricane because Disneyworld is not caving in to the Baptist boycott made him a laughing stock to most people. Incidentally, many Southern Baptists do not support the Disney boycott, and it is not having an impact on Disney's profit margins. In fact, many gay and lesbians are going out of their way to partronize Disneyworld and Disney products in general, because they took a courageous stand. I am happy to see we at least agree about not caring for religious organizations entering politics, Santiago. Christine
