Re: "The IBM 6x86MX PR333 ... It is an adequate gaming CPU"

People's Computer" !!! <ggg> It should sell like "hotcakes".

Make It So,

The M II(tm)-333 processor is priced at $180 in quantities of 1,000. The M II(tm)-300, introduced in April, is now available
at $135 in quantities of 1,000. The M II(tm)-333 is currently being manufactured on a .30-micron process, and will be
transitioning to National's .25-micron process by the second half of 1998.

Fuchi,
Packard Bell had a rep down at my local CompUSA yesterday selling the MediaGX-233 based unit. Included a GX-233 box, NEC printer and and a 14" monitor for $899. Not only that but they threw in a free TV or VCR. He sold 20 packages by 4 pm. It was interesting to see how people buy computers. The average computer buyer for these units knows nothing, maybe MHz. They seemed to fit one of two profiles: a retired couple looking to get on the internet or a woman with a couple kids.
At Circuit City, there was a Packard Bell M2-266 and a NEC M2-266.
The Salesman seemed to be pushing the Hewlett Packard Celeron system.
I convinced him otherwise.
Jim

Fuchi,
I read the review of the IBM PR333. Two things come to mind. The chip runs at 2.5 volts. Doesn't this suggest that IBM is still NOT using it's best processes to manufacture the chip? If that were the case the chip would run at 2.2volts or less.
Secondly, one board I have, the M-Tech R534G only offers a 2.8 core voltage. I see the 333 can run at 2.8 volts. Do you think it would be wise to plug one in?
