Billionton to Manufacture DVD-To-Go PCMCIA Card for Dell Computer; Unique Connector Integrates DVD on both Notebook PCs and TV

WALNUT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 15, 1998--Billionton Corporation announced that it will manufacture for Dell Computer Inc. (NASDAQ:DELL) MARGI Systems' DVD-to-Go PCMCIA card, a DVD/MPEG-2 playback PC Card solution, which delivers high quality audio and video DVD playback on notebook platforms. A special S-video and Dolby(R) audio connector lets users play DVD titles on their TV.

Dell is integrating the DVD-to-Go PC Card as an option with its Inspiron(TM) series of notebook PCs for small business and home customers.

The DVD-to-Go turns a notebook into a portable DVD player that can connect to most TV sets. It features S-Video output through an external connector that has four outputs -- S-Video, composite video output, and two audio connectors. It displays full color, full screen video at 30 frames per second and has high performance video resolution at 720 x 480 (16 million colors). Dolby(R) Digital audio is fully synchronized with the video for seamless viewing.

The Windows 95/98 compatible DVD-to-Go PC Card has high video throughput with up to 20 Mbits/sec of sustained video streaming for smooth video playback. It also has multitasking capability, which allows users to create and use multiple applications on screen. The card decodes high quality DVD encoded MPEG-2 video, AC-3 audio and CSS encrypted media.

"Adding DVD-to-Go to the Inspiron notebook makes it easier for customers to expand the traditional roles of their notebook PCs," said Stephan Godevais, vice president and general manager of the Dell Inspiron product group. "Customers have told us it is important to have the high-quality audio and video of DVD on a notebook that is lightweight, affordable and reliable."

Other features include a DVD navigator, developed by Margi Systems, Inc. of Fremont, Calif., which supports full DVD playback functions such as fast forward and reverse, slow motion, freeze-frame video, support of up to eight language tracks and 32 subtitle languages, and a multiple camera angle option.

Designed as a self-contained decoder system, the DVD-to-Go PC Card interfaces with any Zoomed Video Port notebook and has a 16Mbit SDRAM buffer, a Macrovision 7.01 compliant NTSC/PAL encoder, and an audio DAC. The PC Card also supports Video CD 2.0 and Karaoke mode.

Based on LSI Logic's single-chip L64020 DVD decoder, which is used in premier second-generation DVD consumer players, the DVD-to-Go PC Card is optimized for cost-effective integration of DVD into the mainstream mobile PC platforms. It is a product of Margi Systems, Inc., and manufactured by Billionton for Dell.

Headquartered in Fremont, Calif., Margi Systems is the premier developer and manufacturer of PCMCIA (PC Cards) for the mobile computing market. DVD-to-Go is a trademark of Margi Systems. Margi leads the industry with several "firsts" in its Multimedia-to-Go product family including the first ZV-port DVD PC Card, the first MPEG PC Card and the first Audio-Video Capture PC Card solution. RFF:

Apologies for responding to your posts in reverse order, anyway...

I don't think today's action qualifies as a blow-off--volume was still too light! Believe to meet that criterion, current wisdom says NYSE must trade ~1 billion+. Don't know what the equivalent # on the Naz would be...perhaps E! could help us with that one?

Keep the faith and remember all of the other 'crises' following which we kicked ourselves for not having the courage to take the plunge and cried in retrospect. :-)

Regards,
Wolf
