More attention to the Y2K issue

Financial post of June 12 has an article stating that Revenue Canada has decided to give immediate tax relief to firms in order to help them cope with the costs of preparing their systems for the year 2000

"The write off will be an accelerated capital cost allowance deduction allowing smaller companies to deduct the whole cost of any software or hardware bought to update their systems instead of depreciating over several years. The Finance department spokesman estimated the change will result in 120 million in additional deductions in 1999"

"...research conducted in March shows that 40% of firms in Canada have done nothing to ensure their systems can cope with the Y2K problem"
