Mr. Anderson,

I believe that Donlan's piece is too unrealistically optimistic and foolishly naive.

Communist/Natonal Socialist/Dictatorship/Totalitarianist regimes NEVER relinquish power unless they are CRUSHED militarilly or economically.

WILL BILL CLINTON STAND IN TIANANMEN SQUARE AND DECLARE THE COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT OF CHINA AN EVIL EMPIRE??? I think not...

Would Ronald Reagan allow these huge trade imbalances to continue without any hard political concessions from the Chinese government?

The Chinese government has no reservations about selling any technology to N.Korea, Iran, Pakistan, or anyone else.

I find that nuclear and missile guidance technology transferred to Pakistan from China, now being touted as the "Islamic bomb", very disturbing...

This is a very dangerous world, and appeasment of communist-fascist regimes is a historically proven no-win proposition. American interests and basic human rights must be FIRST AND FOREMOST in any political or economic interaction. I also think that any company executive or politician that "knowingly" sells U.S. national security for monetary gain and/or campaign cash should be SHOT upon conviction.

No need to to make the families pay for the cost of the bullet...This taxpayer will gladly foot the bill.

HOUSE PROBES CHINA MONEY TRAIL:

A joint House panel began to probe an export policy
OK'd by Clinton that may have helped improve the
accuracy of Chinese missiles. One witness, former
Pentagon official Henry Sokolski, accused Clinton of
acting with ''reckless hastiness'' by saying that China
was cooperating on arms control and then granting
waivers to top Clinton campaign donors who wanted
to trade with China.
