Yes you're right...it could be an old well that they've decided to restart production of....if that's the case don't count the field out as there are extracton techniques that weren't around even 5 years ago. The decline of oil in the mid 80's sparked a desire to engineer better techniques for purposes of extraction rather than drill another "dry" wild cat. A well thought to be dry 10 years ago could be producing today at decent levels.

The information on the productivity of a certain field should be published somewhere, so any speculation can be squashed with facts.
