viper,

I must speculate on details of the Apache completion in order to answer you. So I'll speculate that they have proceeded with a fairly "typical" deep completion and that they were in the hole with a tubing conveyed perforating gun. With this approach to perforating, the "tool" is not removed from the well after perforating. It is left in the bottom of the well, below the production packer. Therefore, if it is this tool which has malfunctioned it will not be repaired. It will remain in the bottom of the wellbore.

I'm guessing that Apache would likely attempt a wireline conveyed (through tubing) perforation job as their next step instead of pulling out all of the tubing etc. and rerunning same. So I do think they will know within the next 24 hours what they have.

My quess is that there'll be an orange hue in the sky tonight!!!!
