There's no way CSCO is getting taken out. They're much more likely to buy than be taken over themselves. Who's going to buy them? LU? Chambers has already said they can't work together, so who's left? CSCO is fine as is. Maybe they'll buy TLAB/CIEN; that would give them an inroad into layer 1, and they're already working on 2 and 3, at least that's what some analyst pointed out on Briefing.com today. The analyst also pointed out that CSCO's market cap of $80 billion vs. TLAB/CIEN's market cap of $18 billion is roughly the same ratio as when CSCO bought STRM. Food for thought...
