American Tire Corporation Announces Major
Advances

RAVENNA, Ohio, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- American Tire Corporation [OTC
BB:ATYR - news] announced that its new advanced mixing and pouring
equipment that provides the capability of manufacturing the ''multiple density''
flat free urethane non-pneumatic bicycle tire has now successfully produced
bicycle tires with 5% better rolling resistance and equal wet and dry traction
compared to a pneumatic rubber tire. This is a technological breakthrough
sought after globally for over 30 years said Roger Fleming, President, COO and
one of the co-inventors of this technology. Dr. Sid Asthana, American Tire
Corporation's chief Chemist who shares this technological innovation and Jim
Moore, Manager of Mold and Process Development say this is just the first step
in advancing the synergy of this process and chemistry. Derek Bowers, who is
Manager of American Tire Corporation's Engineering Department, says the
improved rolling resistance provides an enormous advantage to the bicycle rider
by reducing the energy that must be used to keep the bike moving. Add to this
equivalent wet and dry traction compared to a rubber pneumatic tire and you
have the most unique non-pneumatic flat free tire ever produced said Mr.
Bowers.

American Tire Corporation has filed patents on this product. American Tire
Corporation has completed an interim financing program and expects to be in
production of this unique product in early July '98 at its Ravenna Ohio facility.

Mr. Richard Steinke, Chairman and CEO and Mr. Roger Fleming indicated they
expect to initiate regional and national marketing programs starting early July '98
using television, radio, journals and press releases to help inform the public
about this new innovative product and its availability.
