The show said that it worked with 90% of the people. I am not sure that you are talking about the same drug. However, you could be correct I am going off of memory.

They did talk about drugs that only work within some people, but I think this drug is much more homogeneous in that it does a better job at Identifing the virus.

keep in mind that I am not a doctor only telling what I saw.
