Gary, Ascend would love to be taken out by a bigger player, but there aren't that many out there. Cascade was sure that Cisco wanted to buy them and they bought Stratacom instead. If LU or TLAB isn't interested in overpaying for the stock, then ASND may very well go the buyout route. After all, one of the advantages of having an overpriced stock is the ability to use it as currency. That is how Cisco grew to its current size. At one time, I was convinced that the technology had passed Cisco by, but they were able to make enough astute, at least so far, purchases, to put themselves back at the lead in the tech dept. and expand their offerings. Ascend may do the same thing. After all, any company located in Alameda has to be fairly smart. <G> BTW, I lived in Alameda when I went to college.
