>>Now that the crude oil futures in New York hit a low of $12.05 a barrel this morning (their lowest level in 12 years), is Houston real estate now worthless or now worth less?

The real estate market here (metroplolitan) is booming. New developments of homes ranging from $150 to $1+mil are spring up like mushrooms. Sales of existing homes are strong. Commercial and multifamuly occupancy is high, with high rates as well. Of course, none of that positive stuff is reflected in my portfolio. :- /

The economy is much more diversified than before. Refining, computer (Compaq, BMC), energy (Exxon and Enron or whatever their name is now), finance, medical, and the port is second in tonnage to only NY and LA. A positive oil sector and things will really be hopping.
