FTC Extends Intel Probe To Chip Sets
(06/15/98; 11:03 a.m. ET)
By George Leopold and Brian Fuller, EE Times

<<...It also makes it all but impossible for Intel rivals Advanced Micro Devices and Cyrix, which do not have direct access to the technology or patents, to develop Slot 1-compatible modules.>>

That is good news.

<<...Mulloy said Intel is "willing to license that [P6 bus interface] technology for fair value." He said, "There are companies out there that are licensed," and Intel is "in discussions with other companies on the P6 bus."...>>

What is the FTC's problem. Intel is doing what any smart business would do. Protect its patents and charge a license fee for its technology.

Dale,

Nader probably uses a windows 95 on a PII. But he wants you and me to use OS/2 on a AMD.

Ralph Nader probably uses pencil, paper, and abacus. I think he'd like us all to live in the Stone Age.

Regards, JB
