Re: Loan
Exactly what is the nature of the assets Tava is risking? Their business, it seems to me, is work product, not materials or stock in trade. In other words, have they pledged the value of their contracts, receivables, or what? And what is that value?
This thread is too intelligent and well-researched, in my opinion, to fall prey to the tactics of the well-known shorters like Pinkie and Ms. Pain, hopefully.

This loan is old news. The terms of the loan and the verbiage are not unusual but customary. Let's not create an issue.

Any questions concerning TAVA should analyze the amount and scope of their business and managements ability to execute their game plan.

Folks, we have argued continually with doomsayers making all sorts of accusations. First, they said Y2K was not a problem. Then, they said embedded chips were no big deal. Then, they said TAVA was not capable of getting the business. Eventually, these naysayers disappear. But, others will arrive to take their place.

Feel good that their best shot is the equivalent of firing a blank. We should all continue to do our own DD. There are many sources available to find out the progress of TAVA's business.

Finally, we have lost many valuable members of this thread because of the type of outbursts that occurred today. I used to think of this thread as the best message board on the net. The research was extraordinary. Unfortunately, we have become the victims of our own success.

Dear Paddy D. The pledging of all assets is not unusual for a company the size of TAVA, at the time. Its not even for the reason you suspect, ie collateral, its so that should TAVA wish to borrow money elsewhere they would first have to get permission from the lender to free up some assets to pledge. Believe me, permission would not be denied, why, because CASH is the best collateral of all. Receivables from a Service company, if it were to fail are WORTHLESS!! All that is behind us now. Here is what I didnt and dont like about the loan. The warrants. Yes that was likely the market price AT THE TIME but times have changed. I hope very much that the company pays off that loan IN FULL by December 31, 1998 to avoid issuing and MORE warrants. Oh yes, another thing, the interest rate also was reasonable given the nature of the business AT THAT TIME. Tava is a whole new company now. Clean Balance sheet, NMS status, numerous contracts with Major Credit Worthy Companies. I see no reason why they cannot do standard bank financing in the future if they need any financing at all anymore. JDN

PaddyD,
In April I pointed out reasons I was short and my opinions on the company prospects and stock price. Not many of the responses were constructive but I still got some value from the discussions and I hope I added some value too.
I wish these discussion groups worked more like face to face adults having a real discussion. The "Mr Pink" would not use the third party in referring to himself and David Sosiak and others would consider the question rather than obfuscate.

I doubt many pick stocks to short at random, so I think longs must accept that there may be something behind people going short, as shorts must accept the reasons to be long.
For example, anyone who is long and has zero concerns about the terms of the loan is probably not assessing the risk correctly. Anyone short who believes there will be no CD sales is also mis-assessing risk. Individual opinion and experience helps both sides judge how high the risk is.

I see no compelling reason to short TAVA again now. Much better to do something else while waiting to see what the next quarter brings.

PaddyB.
