Kok, the point was not only INTC's age, but also the OPM vs retained earning in which category MU beat INTC hands down, so far.

If Ted Hoff hadn't built the 4004 when he was
asked to design a calculator, Intel may well not be among the living today. The
4004 begat the 8008, which begat the 8080, etc etc

Brings up old memories. Wish I had as much financial sense as I had engineering.

In 1973 I worked for Control Data Corp. in El Segundo, CA when I heard of the 4004. I immediately decided that all future design should be done using the Microprocessor so that theya re totally programmable. Of course my 'older' manager laughed at me and would not even give me 3 days off to attend a course at Intel at my own expense. I went over his head and got approval but he never forgave me for that. SO I left and joined a small co. called Rusco Elect. in security Access control sys. and they were more than happy to have me design with the 8008 and later 8080. They immediately got acquired by a public co. The owner left for Bermuda and I was once again caught up in a bureacracy.

If I had teh financial sense, I would have bought Intel with all my savings and later Micrsoft.

Oh well !!!!!!! Life's a bitch. As they say, if I knew then what I know now !!!!!!
