Tom Any God that comes to destroy, instead of build up, will certainly have to do it without me. I can see ruthless behavior and destruction in the so-called name of justice any time I want by watching some crazy despot on the news. Mark

The concepts of Jesus and God as wrathful and vengeful are believed in only by some Christians, Tom. I wouldn't call that subset "true Christians". For one thing, it implies that other Christians who believe in a more gentle and peaceful Jesus are not really Christian, and I don't support that at all. One of the things that makes religion dead for some Christians, causing them to leave and go elsewhere, is the dead nature of sitting around quoting the Bible and arguing about who is a better Christian, and waiting for the "end times". Did you know that the Jews around Christ thought the world would end immediately after his death? When it did not, they had to create a new timeline. What I know of Jesus, and feel of his spirit, says that he was a forward thinker of his time, compassionate and rebellious. He would be in the forefront of current events here on earth now, not frozen in the Bible. In other words, a leader, a prophet, someone like Gandhi or Martin Luther King, someone who wants to heal pain and create peace among warring factions.
