Sony/Fuji's 200MB HiFD super-floppy is about to be released. Write speed is 1.2MB/sec ... about 20x faster than a normal floppy and very competitive with CF. Media costs will be <$20 per 200MB -- providing 50x the capacity for less money than a 4MB CF card.

I was able to determine that TEAC is producing a drive and even located a part number at www.amoscomputer.com. But no matter where I looked, I could find no specs on the drive (just the media).

IMHO, IF a HiFD drive will reasonably fit into a camera, can spin up and down reasonably fast, has a reason current drain, and can stand up to the shock load, this super-floppy will create a "Super-Mavica" that could put a damper on flash sales. That's a lot of "if"s and no concrete information.

Anyone have any info on the TEAC HiFD drive?
