<<Are you an environmentalist? If so you need to resign seeing as how you do not revere life by not fighting for the rights of babies in the womb!!!>> DCF, revering life and being pro-choice on abortion are not incompatible. I very reluctantly support a woman's right to choose during the first trimester, because I know that a woman who would have an abortion is not going to be a very good mother to that child, or is unable to support and nurture the child. (I have stated here several times already that I would never have an abortion myself.) Because I do revere life, and realize the incredible pain that unwanted children suffer due to neglect and abuse in this country, and outright starvation and death in other, poorer, countries, when I support abortion rights I am still revering life. Quality of life is an important consideration. I wish that all pregnant women who are considering abortion would go ahead and have their babies and put them up for adoption, but that is something I don't think a society has the right to force on a woman. I also think it is important to remember that women have been having abortions since ancient times. So obviously there are compelling reasons to do so, if women are willing to risk their lives. I think for most women, this is a very difficult decision, much agonized over. Anyone who really wants to stop killing fetuses would be an advocate of birth control on demand for everyone, including all young girls. You do not do this, and thereby reveal that the control of women and their sexuality is your real motive. If you are really pro-life, you would include making sure birth control was available in third world countries, where women have not historically had much choice in how many children they have. The Protestant religious right and the Catholic Church cause horrendous human misery with their influence on making sure that the United States does not support international programs which include birth control. Did you know that 40,000 children under the age of five die of easily preventable diseases every day? The world cannot support the number of children it has already. So every time you go off on your anti-life campaign, be sure to remember that you are directly causing little children to starve to death, okay? I personally think late-term, partial birth abortions are hideous, and ought to be outlawed unless the fetus is dead, or the mother's actual life is in danger.
