Carol:

Patience....remember how to tread water?

Besides the shore isn't that far away, and sharks are so over fished that I've never even seen one while scuba diving.

Hopefully you haven't made the mistake of investing money you need for some other essential purpose. That mistake would be the real reason for your angst, because unless you have the time to be an attentive trader, you shouldn't expect to make a bundle on ANY stock overnight (or even in a few weeks). Most stocks appreciate over TIME. Plus, as an old truism from my experience regarding stock timing, the moment you sell the stock price rises... :).

ztect-

btw- considering how ugly the DOW and NASDAQ have been the last several business days, staying even isn't so bad.

Hi, Carol. Hold on. This ship is not going down. I can give you a perfect example of patience (or the lack thereof). My father-in-law gave my wife and I $20,000 last Christmas to invest. Our first investment was with MindSpring @$31.75. Shortly after we bought the stock it went down (what else is new) and we freaked out. We waited until the stock reached $32.75 and got out of it. Whew!

The reason I am sharing this story with you is because at the time it was a VERY scary situation. In hindsight it is so funny because we only kept the stock for 10 business days and, of course, as soon as we sold it continually went up, up, up. MSPG closed today at 59.875 and on 4-22-98 reached 85.25!

The stock market has certainly taught me to be patient. Pick a stock you believe in and sit back and enjoy the ride (albeit sometimes a bumpy ride)! Good luck!
