Seems to me a business would write down inventory, only if it had reason to believe that it could not be sold anywhere near the costs to manufacture. If it is written down and the Company realize some revenues from the items, it may be good, it is real cash, but it isn't profit and shouldn't be counted as such, IMO. Thank goodness I never went into accounting, eh?
