A week or two ago, the DIXSers that were starting to form another group based on the Rocketeers were having fun poked at them for creating a secret thread and using private messages (didn't get it because of the need to be open to everyone). Well, it's not funny anymore. Perhaps they were a little ahead of their time in some respects. I still see the need to have a certain level of openness because there are possibly hundreds (thousands?) of investors out there that aren't on SI that follow these threads and use them for guidelines and as excellent sources of DD. They help support the stock levels and escalate the prices as well. The trick now is finding that middle ground, where the exclusive group is privy to their info, but at the same time, DD can be shared with outside individuals that can participate as well. The group is important as means of trying to keep things honest (ie keep people from being too greedy, but everyone has their own needs, so it's tough, but I think DGIV is an exemplary example of
what I'm talking about). At the same time, this is the chance for the little guy to have a chance at something much bigger. If a group is too exclusive, they may insulate themselves from MM and shorter attacks, but they also lose their broader based support from those on the outside. I was one of those on the outside, and it would have been a shame to me, if the DGIV thread had been just an exclusive club that non-members couldn't read (because then I wouldn't have known about DGIV and got in while it was affordable). Anyway, I'll stop rambling now.
