Well it should. That's what happening. We are starting to get into oversupply issues in teh general MPU market. I'm not sure about much in this sector anymore. It used to be so cut and dry. Intel made money and had 90% market share. Cyrix and AMD made cheaper chips and were occasionally profitble or operated at small losses.

Add in an 11 year bull market with the Nas trading at 70 times earnings and things get more complicated. I remember in 1996 when you could buy anything and expect immediate gains.

CPQ, IBM, PB, NEC, and a lot of smaller vendors have no alliegances anymore to anyone except #1. INTC and MSFT under investigate by DOJ. Netscape giving away source code. Borland changes their name. SUN using Intel chips and selling boxes for under $10,000 based on SPARC. CPQ buys DEC. Intel has rights to Alphas and aRM.. man HELP!!!!!!!!!.. There is just too much happening to keep on top of it all. I think I'm going to buy some oil stocks at these levels

<VBG> ya. The only thing I can count on is MSFT. But at 50 times earnings and the DOJ trying to drag them down, even MSFT is problematic. I was holding MSFT and cash last month, but I repurchase INTC at 68 after they told the WSJ they had no immediate plans for a pre-announce. So now I got MSFT and INTC. Short-term I may look at qntm. Qntm gets clobbered every time SEG and WDC preannounce (which has gotten to be routine), but qntm has an exclusive Terastor lisence and DLT to help them ride out the storms and they are at a 52 week low.
