Evening,

Excuse the interruption, I was reading about the offensive and defensive capabilities of our "battle" and a couple of scriptures came to mind.

One is Luke 10 when Jesus sent the 72 out and when they came back, they "returned with joy" at their success, and Jesus replied " I saw satan fall like lightning from heaven." chap. 10 verse 18.

The other verse is when Jesus is speaking to Peter and He says "upon this rock, I will build My church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

To me, both these scriptures can denote an offensive posture, even the second; because to me if satan is not prevailing, which satan is not, he is going into a "defensive posture" trying to defend, and like you say, we have been given "offensive armour" . I like that very much......

Anyway just a couple of observations..thanks

dan

Dang !! Did you ever take me to school. You are exactly right. To think of Christian threads as strongholds defeat our purpose. Christians were never meant to be defensive in nature.

I was thinking of the period in the underground church; when you could assume Christians were on the defensive; but in actuality they were regrouping for the next offensive.

Sometimes after the many battles drag on and on ( and of late I have felt this way ) you start thinking well all I am doing is holding my own ( defensive posture ) but this isn't what God has called us to be.

Keep up the great thinking and battling. I've found new strength after being set straight. In Christ..gregor
