Re: Remember Telstra???? & The "Did I Really Say That!" Department

Home of the Regulatory Nightmare, and land of Amati ADSL/DMT.

That I believe, is the best Press Release I've seen in 2.6 years, Pat!

We know it's all true, NEC is the END TO END Leader hands down.

Of course look who NEC had as a very early partner! Yes Amati was working directly with NEC's Fabrication Engineers on the development of a VDSL Chip in 1995 & 1996. Who was with NEC in the MCI Broadcast Video Trials? Amati ;^)

Did I Really Say That!

John Girard, a research director at Gartner Group Inc. in Stamford, Conn. Had this to say about ADSL Nov. 6, 1995:
"GlobeSpan sounds really good, but I wonder what percentage of the phone lines are actually of high enough quality to carry the signal. It's hard to believe that [a 6-Mbit connection] is going to be reliable on legacy phone wiring that won't even support 10BASE T. It would be really nice, but I don't have a lot of faith that people will be satisfied with it."

Well,,, I'll give-em a little credit, he was talking about GlobeSpam's CAP.
