Qualcomm did not invent CDMA; it has been around for a long time. However, Qualcomm did invent a special type of CDMA called IS-95, or CDMAone. As far as Intellectual Property, I would guess that Qualcomm has both Patents and Trade Secrets. As for Trade Secrets, any company can reverse engineer the process.
