MM -

I wouldn't hold out any hope of salvation from the Japanese elections. Whatever the result even if they "do something" it will be derisory and too little too late.

They are faced with a whole raft of Japanese industry that is as bust as bust can be and there isn't much they could do even if they wanted to and it is far from clear that they want to.

Did you really think that a few tens of millions ofus living very comfortably in the West were going to be able to "retire" and trott around the world on cruises, playing golf and generally "playing" while almost the whole of Asia (nearly two thirds of everone on the planet) works till they drop? It is totally illogical and couldn't have happened. This is probably the way the world eceonomy adjusts itself. Sad for us that had or even still have the dream of retirement in a few years but that's life.

Sure hope I'm proved wrong.

Regards,

L
