Re: 3D Apps

Good honest effort.

However, I was specifically referring to mass-market applications. Something that will sell 100 million Voodoo chips.

Yes, I'm very familiar with simulation and CGI applications. These will never sell very many chips. The kind of chips this application -will- sell are not Voodoo chips.

It is too easy to conflate mainstream productivity with "important" or "profitable."

You're misusing the word "conflate" here. But I understand your meaning. Equating "mainstream productivity" with "profitable" is exactly what I'm getting at. Do you think this is in error? A large body of successful business models would seem otherwise.

You said:
TDFX is probably at the center of the "user interface of the future."

Can you give specific examples of how this might work? Are you suggesting that the user interface for a multi-step identification process should be a rendered car with a rendered key with a rendered ignition?

God bless,
PX

There are tremendous business application usages in data
visualization for business intelligence scenerios. I also agree the
simulation market for training and other things is extensive.

I think the inertia in seeing 3D in business applications is that
we have been living on the flat earth of Windows for too long.
