given previous discussion on this board, i'd say the consensus here is that we're better off flying solo. with 'only' $310m in sales over the last 12 months, to paraphrase a previous poster, "we're just in the first few innings of a nine-inning game."

fwiw, afci cited in a brief interview with fred kobrick previously with state street research and now on his own with kobrick-cendant. a snippet.

Turning acorns into oaks
Fred Kobrick's funds tend to beat the averages. One reason: his exacting assessment of company management's integrity, honesty and skill sets.

What are some of the stocks you believe will catch up to the market?

Telecommunications and technology are two important areas for us for two very different reasons. For instance, some of our strongest "avoids" are in technology. We are avoiding or selling semiconductor capital-equipment companies. And the same goes with semiconductors themselves. There's overcapacity and slowing in the sector. But in telecommunications, our No. 1 pick would be Advanced Fiber Communications (AFCI). They provide telephone interconnect voice, data and video services for remote areas. Ciena (CIEN) is another one that is very attractive at the moment. They were just bought out a few days ago by Tellabs (TLAB), but we still hold it in the portfolio.

You may want to check the PAIR thread. On that thread they are talking about AFCI as a potential acquirer of PAIR, while here at AFCI you all are talking about AFCI being acquired.
