This is totally consistent with what I've heard. And this is why I am NOT the least bit concerned or disappointed with the completion results to date. While we may still encounter some as yet unknown problem, there certainly is no reason at this point to be alarmed or disappointed.

viper, just think for a few seconds about what must now be in those large holes or pockets that you mentioned. It ain't gas!! It ain't oil!! And, it ain't water!! ALL OF THOSE BIG HOLES NEAR THE WELLBORE ARE JAMMED FULL OF CEMENT FROM THE CASING OPERATION!!!!!!! What are the odds that even one perforation was lined up perfectly with one or more of those big cement filled holes?? And, even if that did happen, what are the chances that the perforation would have actually pierced through all of the cement in the hole (I'm not a completions engineer but I would be surprised if a perforation from a tubing conveyed gun would penetrate carbonate or cement with 14,000 ft of overburden pressure more than about 6 inches). So, why should we be surprised that we haven't YET produced at the expected big rates?? Can we still expect to produce at a big rate?? ABSOLUTELY!! We just have to "open up" several of those large holes in this swiss cheese and this baby will scream!!! Remember that the gas in this zone should be at 5,500 psi (minimum) pressure. If the acid job successfully cleans the cement out of the vugs (big holes), stand back from that flare. It's going to get pretty loud and very, very hot!!

Yep, it can. In a well with vugular porosity you can easily attain rate gains of 100 - 500 fold by successful acid stimulation. Now, HAVING SAID THAT, I must also tell you that I will not be surprised if we do not get a real dramatic gain after the very first acid job. Why?? Well the first acid job may open up only one or two of the vugs and then all the rest of the acid can be lost into the formation through those cleaned out pathways. Other vugs near the wellbore may still remain plugged solid with cement. An acid fracture stimulation would then be required to get the well to produce near its actual capability.

The bottom line is that even after the current acid job we might have to be careful how we interpret the "rate" !!! If the rate is in line with expectations, obviously there is no problem. But, if it isn't it unfortunately still does NOT mean that it won't be completely in line with expectations in a matter of a couple more days. Isn't this fun???
