Pete, I made no reference to tense but Japan was a bubble economy and is now suffering from the malinvestments made during the boom. There is only one outcome for asset inflation once it reaches bubble proportions -that is asset deflation. I see this as the most significant cause of Japan's woes and do not buy into the new era economists explanations. SEA made similar mistakes but will suffer even more. The finacial asset bubble in the U.S. will burst it is only a question of when. there will be too much tough love fer everyone. mike
