Others grab pocketbooks off the street. This sometimes just happens to be a bit more sophisticated. Blast the stock in order to help make it cheap; then when it gets cheap buy some more. When it goes back up, blast the stock to help make it cheap; then when it gets cheap buy some more. This would be particularly lucrative if you knew eventually the company was going to make it big-time. In fact, you could become so rich that you'd never have to do it again.
