jawd (or anyone else), A question on the mechanics of shorting....Suppose you have a short position, like AMZN for example, and after close AMZN issues an earnings warning (not likely since they have no earnings) and imagine a gap down of ......20 pts (you think it's going to down another 20 -30 pts)...frantic selling, panic in the streets, pillaging, etc. ... your borrowed shares are called in and your broker can't find any shares to borrow...Does the broker have to make a good faith effort to notify the holder of the short to close the short position? Or does the broker automatically just close it? Can you "force" the broker to keep the short position open for "n" trading days? Best Regards, Jim
