Meathead - The original augment is not what Dell thinks is a "workstation" (Dell Precision tm, WorkStation 410) but what is a workstation. So by your definition everything before the Pentium II, AGP card and other special "electrical guts", was not a workstation!?

Oh lets not forget the "Special Power Supply", Now would that be a 150W, 200W, 250W or 300W or a dual removable in a rack mount.

It might be noted that according to CPQ, IBM, SUNW and HP all their workstations differ from Dell as well as each other. Do they really make workstations? Or can we sum this up by saying these machines are differentiated by proprietary constrains of the manufacture and that truly they can or cannot be in the family of "Workstations" depending on their role in the workplace.

I guess I would like to know just what this "new standard" for workstations are since we just bought another one (XPS - D/233) a week ago last Friday to add to our network here. Now they promised me I could add this to the Network as a workstation! Could they have lied!!! Could they be slipping desktops in place of workstations because their might be too many desktops in their inventory! Oh my god should we sell now that it's 84 23/32.

Wow, you know, it seems to run Microstation, AutoCad and TerraModel on the network just fine and we paid only 2700 (we're cheap).

Please I'm curious as to what, specifically, this "Industry Standard" is, so that we can in form our other vendors that they have not been selling us workstations all these years.

Cheers
