Actually Cheryl, Microsoft is the leader in language runtime
technologies, much to Sun's chagrin.
There are many other areas where Microsoft is a leader, but an
argument will be pointless.

Microsoft does produce good languages, runtimes,
etc. which work well. Some of us who are Sun shareholders too
don't understand why it wants to call them "Java" and then
modify it from what is called Java on other platforms.

What has us amazed why doesn't it call its amazing
languages anything-but-competitor-managed-brandname

(such as use the name J++, after all it is as good/bad a name
as C++).

It could even design its own better-than-Java language from
scratch and name it from scratch.

Until that happens, there is cloud on this claim of "leadership".
Leaders don't get sued for bait-and-switch on a competitors
brandname (regradless of what the judges/juries interpret in the
contract fine print).
