LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 15, 1998--Netbet Inc. (OTC BB:NBET)
Thursday announced that Casinos of the South Pacific (CSP) opened its Sports
Book located in the Cook Islands.
CSP has informed the company that already over $4 million has been wagered
by Asian players on sports events in the first three days of operation. CSP
also informed the company that it believes, with advertising currently
underway and significant Sports Events around the world this level of
wagering will increase.
As previously announced, Netbet receives 80 percent of the net revenues of
CSP in return for providing technical, marketing and financial assistance to
CSP, which is solely responsible for operation of the gaming and sports
betting Internet site.
CSP holds approvals from the Cook Islands to accept bets and wagers over the
Internet on a worldwide basis except from residents of the Cook Islands.
CSP rules and regulations require that bets be accepted only from those
jurisdictions where it is not unlawful to do so.
The company previously announced a merger with Torrey Pines Nevada effective
Jan. 14, 1998. The company continues to trade on the Bulletin Board. The
company's assets are now in excess of $3 million. Netbet plans to expand
