Zeev,

You are absolutely correct. But humor is always at the expense of someone and doesn't bear up under analytical scrutiny. You have to visualize the statement in the context of an unsophisticated person belittling someone even less sophisticated. Maybe it's no longer politically correct to laugh at the schlemiel within the context of the schlemiel/schlemazel relationship. And yes, humor dies when explained. I have this thing about rural southern humor. Part of my heritage, I guess, and like other "ethnic" humor, maybe not funny to those outside of the area.

I'm looking forward to turnip-predicted DJIA 8200. Hope it gets here before my July puts expire.
