The Animal was nervous. Ever get in a match when you're thinking about it for weeks? ONLY too well, after a season, finishing as champions in the league, 30 schools, a few of the best, and yours truly were selected for a national championship. (Representing the state) We were undefeated on practice games, amongst many, we tied then beat the team from a private catholic seminar, (you know the boys that become priests; Loyola brand), they were good, we were better... scores 0 x 0 (home) and then 3 x 2 (in their own turf). We were the best there was at the time, went to the nationals, (17 years old) only to lose in the very game that mattered, not only that, but were humiliated by a 4 x 1 defeat!.... Brand spanking new uniform and all.... (by a team, that while good, not as good as the choir boys). Played like nervous nellies, frozen stiffs and uncapable retards.... By the time we finally woke up, we had 10 minutes to go.... miserable defeat, I will never forget it. To this day, it burns my red arse.... On the trip back from the stadium, no one spoke a word, dead silence, most of the team cried (like little babies), in silence. There was no excuse whatsoever. Not a fun experience at all. The team for 18 years old became national champions.
