Agent Technology - -Yanakagi (58/M/Pacific NW) Jun 7 1998 11:46PM EDTHi everyone - I've been hanging around for a long long time, enjoying most posts. Rarely if ever post. See if anyone agrees or disagrees with my layman's take on the Agent technology deal. The Agent Technology (or something like it) is a must for the looming "electronic marketplace". Portico needs this technology to be imbedded everywhere so our virtual assistant can do our 'shopping' for us by having it's 'agent' interact with the 'agent' in other commercial computers or networks. Getting this 'Agent Technology' imbedded in countless computers and systems throughout the world is a big big task. General Magic would have been smart to pay Microsoft (with all of their connections) to do this task. General Magic would have been very smart if they could have convinced Microsoft to do it for free. Microsoft PAID 1.5 mil for the privilege of performing this task! Of course Microsoft will gain tremendously from having this technology put in place. So will General Magic. So will others. I see this as a no lose situation for all involved...
