Shares of Network Computing Devices (NCDI), a California software and computer hardware maker, could benefit from a showing this week at PC Expo in New York City. The shares have been stalled at 7 1/2 or so, perhaps from Microsoft's (MSFT) black brush. NCDI's slumping network computer sales depend in part on the success of Windows 98, which is shrouded in antitrust actions yet due in U.S. stores next week.

NCDI at the show could release a network computer that uses Microsoft's lightweight CE operating system and runs on an Intel microprocessor. (See Software Report.)
