Steve,

This was in Jabil's earnings report, after close today:

"Sansone indicated that the while the Company's results for the third
quarter were on target, near term production schedules have remained
soft as a result of significantly lower production levels for one
communications product line.
For the balance of fiscal 1998, the Company
anticipates that revenue will remain flat, with a significant revenue growth in
the fall quarter."

3Com is one of Jabil's main customers. I'm wondering
if they're talking about 3Com. Could be Lucent
also. I don't think anybody
can tell until they hear the cc for Jabil.
(I'll check their thread later.)

Even if it is 3Com, it doesn't necessarily imply anything
ominous, but my paranoid mind sometimes likes to comb
for problems.

If they are talking about 3Com, hopefully, it's not
something that has taken anybody by surprise. If it
has taken somebody by surprise, then I wonder why, AND
I hope this doesn't spell trouble in any way, shape,
or form.

Does this post make any sense, or have you
already spent your profits? :-)

joe

PS - Interesting to hear about CSCO's problem. Sounds
similar to MSFT and INTC. Guess that's what happens
when a company gets huge.

Really pathetic,

<don't worry Joe, "I'll be back" ;-)>

Is that from a third-rated soap opera or what ??

Steve,

Which product(s) of 3com do you see strong demand in this quarter? I suppose they are losing market share in remote access. How is their business in Layer 3 switches?

Thanks,

H.Wai
