Re: Martin A. on Y2K <OFF TOPIC>

I quickly read Martin's Y2K essay and found some of the statements a little hard to swallow. Pls allow me to mention the following:

"We literally have perhaps the largest database in the world. With
over 25 gigs of data, if anyone should be panicking it would be PEI."

Oh, Martin, you're soooo impressive with your 25 gigs of data. If that's the biggest database in the world I wonder who ATL Products will sell their P3000 to? It stores up to 11.6 terabytes!

ATL's Storage System:
<Targeted at storage intensive applications, the P3000 features up to 16 DLT drives and 332 cartridges for 288 gigabytes per hour
performance and 11.6 terabytes of storage capacity. The P3000 will be demonstrated at Networld+Interop 98 in ATL's booth
#5325, South Hall, Las Vegas Convention Center, May 5th through 7th.>

"There are many firms reaping in billions of dollars based upon
hype."

I wish Martin would show me how to make billions of dollars based on hype! That sounds like a good line of business....

Otherwise, on the whole his article sounds similar to most other summaries that expect at least a modest slowdown.....
