I agree with you. Too many devices and too complicated a setup makes for a not so happy customer. I'll wait for Clik! to be built-in to the camera.

But I can't help wanting them to raise the bar more. Specifically, I would like to see IOM make the next gen Clik! GMR with at least 100MB capacity. The latest digital cameras are already at the megapixel stage. By the time Clik is in full production, it may hold no more than 10 lossless compressed images from the best prosumer models. Not exactly what I had in mind for removable storage capacity.

re: I don't know about you, but I like things simple.

While I can sympathize with those that will be overwhelmed
with the number of parts and the intricacies of the technology
I don't think there's a one size fits all.

They are providing the necessary interfaces to use one drive for
your camera, hand held computer and desktop systems, looks like
they have all the bases covered.

They would be criticized if any of the interfaces were missing.

The key to the success of Clik! is to get it built in, the external
version will be used to satisfy (for the most part ) those devices that
currently don't have enough storage. IMO.

>>too many parts to keep track of<<

I don't think this is going to be a deterrent to camera buffs. They're already used to a bag full of camera stuff. Lenses, film, filters, batteries, flash, etc.

The snap shooter is not likely to be a Clik! user but the serious digital photographer is. Clik! is a lot better than hauling a laptop around.

Add on external autowinders were adopted without much trouble. Now try to find an electronic camera without internal autoadvance. In fact most mid to high end electronic cameras have complex electromechanical componentry. Autoload, autoadvance and autofocus. Is internal Click! that big a stretch?

I doubt we are seeing the target consumer's reaction to Click! at the PC Expo. I'm more interested in the camera buff's reaction since that is who the external Click! is aimed at.

BTW, I heard a Syquest radio ad yesterday. "Get a gig" set to a rap like delivery. Catchy spot. They were offering $30 rebates for Sparq's with 3 disks and $100 rebates for SyJets with 3 disks.

How much can Syquest bleed before turning white?
