eugene: I don't understand what you're saying.

I know Kurlak doesn't follow equips. I was referring to INTC, which is currently my largest stock, as I've previously posted. Do you mean sell INTC? Yes, I intend to, when he nudges the stock up to 75, the point at which the most options expire worthless this friday. I got in at 69 two weeks ago.

Do you mean sell semi-equips? I don't own any, and they're too low to short any more.

I can't wait until japan has a positive quarter, I'll be retired by then. Seriosly, they are in a bad way, and will probably hurt the rest of east asia for a year or two, but the rest of the (developed) world should do OK. Nothing is wrong with N. America or Europe(that's a relative term, I mean nothing on a Japan-like scale). There will be new Tigers in Latin America or East Europe, and life will go on.

re: "This b to bill is an aberration". Quite possibly. That's why I'll wait till I see a pattern, and am sure it's not noise in the signal, a temporary uptick only.

Actually, I think the bottom will be sometime this year, for the stock price and BTB, and I'm hoping to be back into semi-equips (with a lot of margin and out-of-the-money LEAPs) by year-end.

I was under the impression that you were holding AMAT now, and intended to continue holding and buy on dips. Is that wrong? You sure sound pessimistic. When did this happen?

Eugene, Check the AMAT Dorsey Wright site www.dorseywright.com
Free trial for two weeks if you have not used it. You will note when comparing the price chart against Gottfried's BTB chart that at the last of July 1996 that AMAT's price started to jump from its price lows even though the BTB had not reached its bottom.

Question? Are the big boys trying to jump in early this time prior to the small investor? In 1996 they were behind the small invester in investing in AMAT. Then prices jumped tremendously. However, starting last Friday AMAT's price is starting to run up and it appears that CNBC is starting to hype the SEMI'S.

Just my $.02.
