Britain is socialist dominated. Who wants to buy bonds issued by those inflators?

Rate increases restore the integrity of money. The first law of economics is the conservation of value. Free market assignment of price never causes the disappearance of value, only allows infinitesimal adjustments to the worth of value.

Conservation law holds for macro-economic bodies.

Mergers only help to dispose the inefficient in a more palatable way. It isn't inflationary to have people earn lots of money as long as they have to suffer commensurately. That is also conservation of total value.
