TO ALL: About WWW.THESTREET.COM article An INNI shareholder alerted me Saturday about an June 19 article at thestreet.com . The article says: "IBM (IBM:NYSE) is set to announce Monday that it will begin bundling the freeware Apache server with its newly released WebSphere line of application servers and software........" The article, with the title "Top Stories: IBM Says See Ya to Netscape Server Software", is misleading since it give people an impression that IBM is dumping Netscape all together. After some research during the weekend, I found the following: 1) The first article reporting that "IBM will bundle the Apache software as part of its WebSphere application server offering, ............" came out on June 18th at news.com and that article is more objective. This news only affect WebSphere application which is only available on MicroSoft NT, AIX and SUN Solaris. (See software.ibm.com ) Hence it mainly affect IBM's UNIX (AIX is IBM's UNIX operating system) machines such as RISC/6000. 2) Apache is mainly for UNIX machines. "At present, the Win95/NT port of Apache is not as stable as the UNIX version." (see apache.org While I believe Apache will have a more stable version for win95/NT machines, its very unlikely that it will have a version for IBM AS/400. After finding all the facts, I believe that the news has nothing to do with INNI-IBM-Netscape contract since neither WebSphere nor Apache can be used on AS/400. IBM will still have to use ported Netscape for AS/400 (they have already paid I/NET $600,000 and paid Netscape part of license fee anyway). I have sent Mr. Markee an email asking him to confirm this. I suspect some people may have seen the news but never read this thread. They may dump INNI shares on Monday morning causing price to drop. Well I am ready for the dip to load some shares to make a quick buck. Good luck, yongzhi
