<<Maybe Erickson will bid for Ascend. This from a Swedish paper>>

Neil,

My experience is that these buyouts usually come from directions that where least anticipated.
In this case, LU is probably the play, but ASND may be bid up by other suitors.

All the telecom & Data equipment makers will need to acquire this year to have a play in both voice & data. When xDSL is a common place thing, 'if your not in your out'. There is no time to build from the ground up. You have to acquire.

I'm probably just stating the obvious, but it's JMO.

Joe

Bloomberg:"Ericsson AB (ERICY) American depositary receipts rose as much as 1 5/8 to 28 after the newspaper Dagens Industri said the Swedish telecommunications-equipment maker may acquire Ascend Communications Inc. (ASND). The computer-networking company's one of the few strategic acquisition targets left for Ericsson after Canadian phone-equipment maker Northern Telecom Ltd. (NT) agreed to buy Bay Networks Inc. (BAY). Each Ericsson ADR represents one series ''B'' share. "
