JUN 17, 1998, M2 Communications - Hewlett-Packard Company today announced that its HP OpenView
enterprise-management solutions will support HP's future IA-64 (Intel Architecture, 64-bit) based systems. HP
OpenView will be HP's premier management solution for IA-64 environments.

"It is our goal to provide best-in-class enterprise-management solutions to help our customers solve their
problems and realize the business benefits of their IT investments," said Olivier Helleboid, general manager of
HP's OpenView Software Division. "We will continue to work with Intel and other partners to ensure HP
customers have the most flexible, scalable and high-quality enterprise-management solutions available."

HP and Intel co-developed EPIC (Explicitly Parallel Instruction Computing), the technology foundation for IA-64.
HP believes that IA-64 will enable unification of UNIX and Windows NT operating systems on a common
architecture and intends to offer IA-64 systems with both operating systems to enterprise customers.
Customers will be able to manage IA-64 systems with HP OpenView enterprise solutions in HP-UX(1) or
Windows NT environments. HP intends to lead the way in IA-64-based systems management.

"HP's enterprise customers have benefited from the performance and scalability of HP 9000 Enterprise
Servers and HP NetServer systems, and we expect that HP's future IA-64-based systems will provide an
even higher level of performance," said Bill Russell, HP vice president and general manager of the Enterprise
Systems Group. "HP OpenView's support of IA-64-based systems will enable customers to scale their
current solutions and maximize the return on their IT investments."

Recently, HP and Intel announced that HP OpenView Network Node Manager, HP's flagship
network-management solution, would offer expanded network-management support for and integration with
a range of Intel management solutions and Intel's Wired for Management initiative. Intel is a member of the HP
OpenView Premier Partner Program. About HP OpenView
