A forex intervention, even a massive one, is unlikely to change the direction of a primary trend. However, it does increase volatility (read: risk) and force market participants to reduce their leverage.

The yen will continue to decline against the dollar, albeit more slowly. A short-covering rally that is underway may last for another couple of days (Dow 9000?).

Clinton hit the panic button...

China threatened to devalue their currency if the Yen kept going down. That got everybody's attention real quick.
