Mike, thanks! pubs.cmpnet.com That is amazing. Just another of the hundreds of thousands of developments going on which are impossible to keep up with which all contribute to the new paradigm. Globalstar type cellphones really will be tiny, with fuel cell power supply and cdma2000 links to 3D glasses with stereophonic Earcells[TM] which are hearing-aid type inserted phones. The sky's the limit. Who cares about a few property gamblers in Asia who have gone bust? The buildings won't go away. The argument is now only who gets to own them and how much the lawyers take. The wealth effect HAS gone away, so there is a big drop in luxury spending, travel and all that jazz. It will all just rebalance and the wealth of those who continue to invest in the new paradigm industries will continue to increase. No worries, Mqurice PS: "...invest in the new paradigm industries..." of course only the successful ones.

Northforce, appreciated the Gilder link. He's is one wild and crazy guy who will either make me a bundle or have me living in a cardboard shack. Trouble is I can't figure out which. Interesting side note: once the guys at the conference saw me in my new faculty position at MIT, they asked me to speak instead of Gilder. I accepted but couldn't figure out how to e-mail them. For some nutty reason this caused them to question my IT credentials. Go figure. :) Surfer Mike
